NIKE AND APPLE — OWNING IT!

A while back I wrote an entry called Branded Brands about brands coming together to form new and exciting products and services that help further drive consumer loyalty and brand buzz.

Behold, the ultimate brand union for an ultimate consumer experience: Apple and Nike have joined forces to give the serious athlete something to talk about: the Nike+iPod Sport Kit.

This is some serious cool stuff here. With a simple iPod attachment and a microchip in a Nike running shoe, serious runners now get run updates, messages and information to go with their iPod music as they are running. After the run is over, the iPod is docked and a complete run diagnostic is downloaded onto the computer.

So simple, so effective, and so damn ingenious. Is it any wonder these guys are kicking ass and taking names?

Check out the site here. Oh yeah, here’s the other bit of genius: the Nike site has a listing of running-centric music…which can be downloaded on iTunes.

    It’s not as big as Nike & Apple, but I think sometimes a subtle touch is even better.
